The UEFA Champions league played on Tuesday Wednesday had a lot to write about. From Liverpool humbling to Manchester united comeback in Turin.

Football fanatics were treated to a series of spectacular nights across Europe in different fields.

Liverpool Thrashed in Serbia

Red Star Belgrade being the only club from Serbia to have won the European Cup finals in 1991 had a well packed surprise for five times Champions league winners. The on form English club made their trip to Serbia with high morale boosting of unbeaten form on their chase for EPL trophy. Despite still commanding the lead of group C, Liverpool face the threat of crashing out at the Champions’ League group stage after a shock 2-0 defeat to Red Star Belgrade in the Serbian capital on Tuesday. Milan Pavkov scored twice in seven first-half minutes to hand Red Star their first Champions League victory in 26 years. After the defeat, Jurgen Klopp had his disappointment known to the players but promised an improvement. “"The boys are very disappointed, I'm very disappointed and we have to do better. We have to do better because we can do better, but tonight it is too late," said Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.”

Turin Drama

The drama witnessed on Wednesday night left a lot to be assessed by sports analyst, pundits and commentators. Back at Etihad Manchester City condemned Shakhtar Donetsk to 6 -0 humiliation with Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus scoring a hart rick courtesy of two penalties and a one tap in.

To their neighbours and arch enemies, Manchester United had a lot to show their haters and those who had ruled them out of this seasons League race. Having witnessed a goalless draw, the Mourinho inspired side came into the second half with vigor and zeal to win the game. A few minutes into the second half, they found themselves trailing one goal down courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo marvelous finish.

Juan Mata who came in place of Ander Herera, brought in the game changer with an outspoken free kick 24 meters away from the Juventus goal post. Four minutes later, Juventus found themselves crying foul after Ashley Young drove in a free kick that was tapped in by Alex Sandro. Jeventus had themselves to blame for the loss after failing to make use of the best opportunities they to pile misery on their quest.

The Wednesday game at Turin has brought a lot to discussion with a lot of questions emerging. Having been among the group advocating for the sucking of manager Jose Mourinho, Paul Scholes and other pundits have to reconsider their stand on the Portuguese tactician.

The real test of the now branded ”king of comeback” is on Sunday when the Red Devils will be hosted by their City revivals who are on the helm of the English Premier League table with 29points, commanding a huge goal difference and an 11 match unbeaten record.
